HKDSE Chemistry is assessed by two written papers plus School-based Assessment (SBA), the practical/lab work marked in school. Grades run from level 1 to 5, with the higher awards 5* and 5** at the top.

Paper 1 covers every compulsory topic, so no area can be skipped, while Paper 2 tests only your two electives in more depth. Both papers rely on the supplied periodic table and data, so practise finding and using their values.

Build those skills as you revise: carry out experiments carefully, record qualitative-analysis observations (colours, precipitates, gases), process results with the right significant figures, and work confidently in moles for titration and yield calculations. Get fluent with the supplied periodic table and data so you can locate relative atomic masses, ion charges and other values quickly under exam pressure.
