Charge: A basic property of matter, positive or negative, measured in coulombs, that experiences electric forces.
Current: The rate of flow of electric charge, I = Q / t, measured in amperes.
Potential difference: The work done per unit charge in moving charge between two points, measured in volts.
Resistance: The opposition of a component to current, equal to the potential difference divided by the current, R = V / I.
Ohm's law: For a metal at constant temperature the current is directly proportional to the potential difference across it.
Electromotive force: The energy supplied per unit charge by a source as charge passes through it, measured in volts.
Series circuit: A circuit in which components are joined end to end so the same current passes through each.
Parallel circuit: A circuit in which components are connected across the same two points so they share the same voltage.
